without my skin, with eyes
and hands, I watch hills form, crest
recede
           we measure life with tape and pictures,
exchange stories or
that which we do not know

or everything

           carpet burns aside,
           I would like to see your face

           unshuttered

           explain:
waiting is the greatest strength we have
it separates us from
ourselves
           - looks like acceptance
unrewarded

because
